Bishopbriggs Underpass Commission
04/02/09
RMJM Architecture and RMJM Art Commissioning are delighted to announce their recent new appointment to refurbish Bishopbriggs Underpass (on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council).
For Bishopbriggs, we are very privileged to be working with artist Jennifer Douglas who studied her B.A. Fine Art at Newcastle University and graduated from the MFA at the Glasgow School of Art in 2005.
Recent projects include a billboard commission for the Jerwood Gallery in London, a solo show at the Grundy Gallery, Blackpool and group shows in York, Dundee and Northampton. Her works have also been shown in galleries and museums internationally including the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art (Gateshead), Tramway (Glasgow), Hales Gallery (London), Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing (China) and Tensta Konstall, Stockholm (Sweden).
Her work consists of formal arrangements which compel the viewer to explore and unravel a multitude of meanings. As with her sculptures, her drawings are brighly coloured, playful and comical. They reveal structures of thought that are both abstract and literal and engage the viewer in an aesthetic vocabulary that is idiosyncratic and unmistakably her own.
Jennifer is represented by Workplace Gallery in Gateshead.
